Okay, so I have Alissa and Nathan this evening and they're not really playing together. Then Nathan found a toy mustard and took it to the playroom to play and Alissa wanted the mustard and followed him crying. He tossed it aside and started play with the toy ice cream, which, of course, then Alissa wanted that. I gave her the mustard that she originally wanted and she shunned it, still crying...

In all my brilliance, I suggested that she make some "chicken and rice" for Nathan. She paused her crying and said, "chicken and rice is all gone."

I just left the room cracking up and came here to share with you all. Now Nathan has returned to his DS and Alissa is off putting more crayons in my big stew pot...everyone's happy.

I'm on my way to bed, but I have to share my Nathan story.

I kept Julee's kids today so her and Tony could go have a special anniversary day. We had a good day, everyone played and it was pretty easy.

At one point Nathan got frustrated with Maury so I said I would turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as a distraction. He said that was boring, then something happened and I got distracted. Next thing I knew Nathan was in my room with the door closed. I went to check on him...but the door was locked. My request for him to unlock the door was continually met with a loud and firm no. I asked him what he was doing he said he was laying on my bed. I asked him over and over to unlock the door, again he continued to say no. I just kept laughing and trying different keys to unlock the door...with no luck.

Then of course, Julee calls. She asked how things were going. I said, "What, these little angels" and kept laughing and laughing as I tell her how Nathan is locked in my bedroom and won't come out. She wasn't surprised. I told her he'd be fine and maybe would just go to sleep on my bed since he hadn't had a nap. After we hung up, I decided to try to bribe him. I offered to turn on Handy Manny, he responded with no. Then I asked if he wanted a juice box and he said yes, jumped up, and promptly came and unlocked the door. He came out like nothing ever happened, as happy as could be, got his juice box then went to the living room. I started to turn on Handy Manny but he wanted to watch...you guessed it...Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Go figure.

He cracked me up. I told him it was okay if he went and laid on my bed when he was mad or frustrated, but he can't lock the door. He said, Okay, Grandma.

We had a fun day.

Chicken Pox = Segregation

This was Easter Sunday and the last time I had all my grandchildren together in one place. Dumb-ol' chicken pox. Today is Mother's Day and I have lunch with Julee's family, dinner with Jessica's family, then dessert with Josh's family. At least I get to see everyone, but I can't wait to get everyone under the same roof again. Of course with the incubation period and contagious period of icky, icky chicken pox, I guess that could still be a month away.

Well, maybe this is an excuse to get out of cleaning for a few minutes. But as I was vacuuming getting ready for Julee's and Jojo's birthday party, I remembered another sweet thing Jojo said when he spent the night the other night.

I asked him what he wanted to do tonight and he said maybe play a boardgame or make something or scrapbook or something.

I said, "Really, that's what you want to do?"

He said, "I'm trying to think of things a lady would want to do."

How cute...what a sweetie. So I played Super Mario Party with him on the Wii. We had a good time and were well matched, not like playing with Bubba or Josh. : )

"I don't get why girls cook food and boys just barbeque and make pancakes and stuff. I don't get that."

That's pretty good. That's better than what Josh told me when he was young. "Go cook dinner, woman." I wonder where he got such things. hmmm....

I talked to my sister today. I just love her. We've been through a lot together. I wasn't always the nicest person to her and for that I am truly sorry. Kids can be so insensitive and selfish. That was me.

The other day I went to Denny's with Jessica and Alissa. Jessica ordered her meal and ordered for Alissa from the kid's menu. When it was my time to order, being the difficult person that I am, what I wanted to order was only on the senior menu and that's what the guy gave me. The nerve of him. I am NOT a senior! I have a good 2 years, 3 months and 6 days left in my youth before I cross that line. I am not a senior, I am not a senior...

Timothy is a clever boy!

I went to Timothy's Christmas play tonight. He was required to be in the play and to have lines. He had 2 lines and he did them very well. He cleverly volunteered to help the teacher which got him out of all the singing and dancing. He's a sly one.

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm doing fine. I've used crazy glue 4 times since my "episode" and all my fingers and toes still operate independently. So I've grown in the crazy glue area of my life. Just thought you all'd want to know that.

Well, I crazy glued my fingers together. Not the tips either... 2 fingers from the knuckles all the way to the tip...stuck, stuck, stuck.

It took a long, long time to get free, but really warm water, dawn dish soap, nail polish remover, the pointy thing on nail clippers, a lot of patience and laughing did the trick.

Freedom!!

I may never use crazy glue again. Now I get to spend the rest of the night picking the glue off. At least I can type now. :)

They finally set Heidi free today. She's so happy to be home. Alexis didn't have any trouble remembering how to nurse. In fact, she got all excited, kicking about. It feels a little funny to me right now. I'm not sure when to step in and help or when to let them be. I find myself more in tuned to Alexis and her needs. I am sooo tired though.

Now to get Heidi healed up and all better.

5th night, believe it or not...

Well, Heidi's blood test today gave the news that she has pancreatiits and they're keeping her another day. So, we spent another day with Alexis and are going into our 5th night. I feel so bad for Heidi, stuck in that hospital room with no food and no baby. Hopefully she gets released in the morning and this nightmare can end for her. Tomorrow is her birthday, so coming home would really be great for her.

3rd night went well and going into 4th

Heidi is still in the hospital. Poor thing. She had another procedure today that got the last of the gallstones. She looked so much better tonight, more like her old self. She's got good color now. She should be coming home tomorrow. So, just one more night with the baby by myself. It'll be nice to have Josh and Heidi back home. It'll be a week or so before Heidi can pick up Alexis, so even though she can hold her if we give her to her, she'll need a lot of help.

Survived 2nd night

Alexis and I survived our second night together. I really should be showering instead of blogging right now. We went and visited Heidi last night. Mom and daughter were happy to see each other.

It's been good bonding with Alexis. I've kind of kept my distance even though they live with us. I've not wanted Heidi to feel like I was going to take over her baby when they moved in here. So this time has been nice. But I think we're ready for mommy to come home now.

Off to try and sneak in that shower before Alexis wakes up again. I might add a picture of the two of them at the hospital, but we'll see how they came out and if there are any Heidi would approve of. :)

Emergency Surgery, sort of...

Well, emergency in that her surgery won't wait till the scheduled date of the 24th, but not emergency like rush her in immediately. Heidi's gallstones are on the move and one has moved to a duct, she's jaundiced and itchy which indicates she's loaded with toxins or something like that. Josh took her to the emergency room last night and they kept her. She will be having surgery today.

So I have Alexis, who is 4 months old now. We had a good night together...me, her, some formula and my rocking chair. So, here we go... another exciting episode in the Hernandezclan household.

Grandparent's Day

Friday, I was honored to go to school with Katie Ann for Grandparent's Day. She had interviewed me days before and did an oral report.

Katie Ann wore my high school cheerleading sweater to school and wore her hair in two ponytails just like I used to wear. Many kids brought cookies and goodies to share.

After all the presentations, we went to lunch. We each brought our own lunches. Katie Ann showed her hula hooping skills with six, yes, six hula hoops at once. I tried just one, but could only do it for a few seconds.

After lunch we went to chapel for a program put on my Mr. Cushings, students and a guest speaker.

It was a fun, memorable day. I look forward to next year!

Sad news

Believe it or not, the job that Jesse interviewed for contacted him the other day. It is still open and they are still considering him. This interview was a long time ago. I can't believe it's still open. Well they are busier than ever and really need to fill the job...so what's the hold up?

Well anyway, it gave me a ray of hope again. If anybody reads this post, feel free to join me in praying that Jesse gets this job. It would do me a world of good in many, many ways.

Send a car service to pick me up??

I had a very exciting, but equally scary email in my inbox on Memorial Day morning. Fox & Friends from the Fox News Channel in New York wanted to send a car service to pick me up and take me to their satellite studio for an interview on the Subway story I reported on. The time zone is all that saved me. It would have been a great experience and I would have done it, but I would have been soooo nervous.
